An equally delicious, yet nutrient dense alternative to hot chocolate. A creamy, frothy, velvety, & energizing warm beverage… tastes just like hot cocoa… combines coconut milk, organic cacao, organic red beet crystals, maca powder, vanilla extract, & cinnamon

 

The Recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients

1 Canned Coconut Milk

2 TBLS Salus Red Beet Crystals

1/2 Tbsp Vanilla Extract

1/4 Cup Cacao or Cocoa Powder

2 Tsp Maca Powder (optional)

Pinch of Sea Salt

1 Tsp Cinnamon

Honey or Maple Syrup to Sweeten

Garnish with 1 Cinnamon Stick, Coconut Whipped Cream, Cacao Powder or nibs (optional)

Instructions

  • Mix together with a whisk in a bowl or for a frothier texture add directly to a blender.

  • If you would like to top your drink with Coconut Whipped Cream, set a Can of Coconut Milk in the refrigerator the night or a head of time before making this recipe. Recipe below for Coconut Whipped Cream.

  1. Gently Mix together Coconut Milk, Vanilla Extract and Salus Red Beet Crystals to create a beautiful red velvet color.

  2. Add in Cacao Powder a little at a time until it is all mixed in. Add Maca Powder, Cinnamon, and Sea Salt. If you like you can mix in other spices of your choice such as Cardamom or Nutmeg.

  3. Gently pour mixture in a blender to make extra frothy. (This step is optional)

  4. Pour into a pot and heat on the stove on medium heat. Gently stir until hot cocoa is nice and hot.

  5. Pour your beverage into a mug.

  6. Stir in Honey or Maple Syrup to sweeten to your taste.

  7. Top with Coconut Whip Cream and Cacao Powder or Cacao Nibs.

Coconut

Whipped Cream

Ingredients

1 Canned Coconut Milk or Coconut Cream

1/4 Powdered Sugar

1 TBLS Vanilla Extract

  1. Set a Canned Coconut Milk in the fridge overnight or for several hours

  2. Open the cold can, and scoop out the coconut that is solidified together. Save the leftover coconut water for a smoothie or another recipe.

  3. Use a Kitchen Aid or a Hand Mixer and blend until you have a big cloud of whipped cream.
