Whole Wheat Waffles

Topped with Orange-infused Whipped Cream & a Strawberry Cinnamon Sauce

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, I made my baby a waffle feast. It included…

Heart-shaped Whole Wheat Waffles

Orange-infused Whip Cream

Strawberry Cinnamon Honey Syrup

Sounds fancy but is honestly so simple to make.

For the Waffles…

I used a basic recipe from Martha Stewart… you can find it here.

I used whole wheat flour instead of white flour. I also added cinnamon and ginger powder.

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 large eggs

  • Half a stick of unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/2 Tsp of Cinnamon Powder

  • 1/4 Tsp of Ginger Powder

Combine in a stand mixer or use a hand mixer on low until lumps are gone.

Cook your batter into waffles or pancakes.

For the Whipped Cream…

2 cups of Heavy Cream + 2 TBLS of Confectioner Sugar + 2 TSP of Orange Extract

Usually this would require Vanilla Extract but the Orange really made this…EXTRA!

Whip on High for several minutes in a stand mixer or using a hand mixer until it becomes a big cloud of delicious whipped cream.

*Tip- If you freeze a bowl that you will make your whipped cream in, it will already be cold when whipped.

For the Syrup…

Chop up a handful of Strawberries. You can also use frozen fruit.

Combine Strawberries, a 1/4 Cup of Water, and 1 TBLS of Honey, and a few shakes of Cinnamon in a sauce pan.

Cook on medium-low until syrup is combined.
